GDPR in the pandemic – luxury or eye of the needle?
Mass working from the home office increases the pressure for companies to take the GDPR seriously. The topic of data protection and the General Data Protection Regulation are gaining importance for many companies in the lockdown. The usage figures for the collaboration tools available on the market have skyrocketed. Unresolved are the problems of personal data protection, which were already there before Covid19, but somehow did not make it onto the agenda of many companies despite the Schrems II ruling. Microsoft’s teams still run on American servers, while competitor Zoom at least lets users choose where their current communication data is processed.
