The silver price has made most of its gains in the past two months. Demand from India was strong, as was demand from silver-backed ETFs. The London reference market is experiencing a historic supply shortage of silver. At the same time, inventories in China are at a ten-year low. The reason for this is years of supply deficits. The electric mobility and photovoltaic industries have absorbed massive amounts of silver, and the trend is rising. Once stocks are empty, the industry must continue to buy even at high prices so that production can continue.

Mining production has been unable to keep pace with industrial demand and the ETF sector this year. This has resulted in supply bottlenecks and shortages in some cases. And supply cannot simply be increased. Silver experts expect the rally scenario to continue. If there are (natural and unavoidable) price setbacks, investors should take advantage of the favorable entry prices. Looking at the gold-silver ratio, it currently stands at 72.25. In April and May, the ratio was still in triple digits.

Then there is the gold price, which usually pulls the silver price up with it. And there are almost only positive voices to be heard, which also expect a very strong gold price for 2026. This is because central banks will continue to focus more on gold in their reserves. Added to this are the interest rate cuts expected by the Fed and potentially higher inflation in the US. Mining companies with silver and gold are among the big winners of this development.

Discovery Silver https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/discovery-silver-corp/ – owns the extremely promising Cordero project in Mexico. The reserve amounts to more than 300 million ounces of silver. The company has also recently started producing gold, with more than 50,000 ounces in the second quarter.

Fortuna Mining https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/fortuna-mining-inc/ – is a successful gold and silver producer with mines in West Africa and Latin America. In the third quarter of 2025, more than 72,000 ounces of gold were produced. The mine in Ivory Coast scores with very good drilling results.
