Energy is freedom

Modern nuclear technologies play an important role, particularly in improving living standards in developing countries. Especially in the world’s poorest countries, energy is the basis for prosperity and freedom. It is not only China and India that are rapidly expanding their reactor fleets. Demand for uranium is expected to rise significantly in the coming years, by at least around three percent annually. The world’s uranium reserves are limited. There is already a shortage of supply. This is even without the booming AI industry, which is generating an immense demand for energy. Whether existing nuclear power plants are reconnected to the grid or new ones are built and planned, uranium could prove to be a worthwhile investment. Investment in the uranium sector is already on the rise, as new uranium deposits are needed. Technology companies such as Microsoft are also investing in securing nuclear energy for data centers.

The additional power requirements for artificial intelligence alone will require an estimated 200 TWh of electricity by 2030. The focus is also on small modular reactors. As the world’s largest producer of nuclear energy, the USA will have to expand its domestic uranium production in order to reduce its dependence on other countries. The role of Saskatchewan’s uranium is particularly important, as minerals from democratic and safe regions are in demand. The fundamentals for uranium are excellent. The fact that the price trend has nevertheless been somewhat disappointing in recent months should not deter investors from keeping an eye on the uranium market and its opportunities.
