Founded in 1992, IMM Photonics specializes in the development and production of customer-specific optical and optoelectronic components and modules. IMM Photonics has been pursuing a consistent sustainability policy since 2015. This is reflected, among other things, in the reduction of CO₂ emissions by over 45% in 2023 compared to the previous year. The use of energy-saving LED lighting at all sites and the switch to 100% green electricity at the Teisnach site mark milestones. Motion detectors reduce unnecessary energy consumption, mercury-containing lamps in production have been replaced by UV LEDs, an in-house water treatment system saves thousands of PET bottles every year and the company fleet consists almost entirely of electric vehicles.

IMM Photonics also takes a social approach to sustainability: with a company pension scheme, employer-financed health insurance and full flexibility in terms of work location. Suppliers must also commit to fair working conditions, ethical behavior and ecological responsibility.

Christian Raith, CEO of IMM Photonics, accepted the EPIC award: "On behalf of IMM Photonics, I am honored to receive this award from EPIC in recognition of our ongoing commitment to sustainability. Our silver sustainability rating from EcoVadis means that IMM Photonics is in the top 15% of the companies they assess. This is not only a sign of the company’s commitment to acting responsibly, but also an important step towards a more sustainable future for the environment, society and future generations."

Carlos Lee, Director General of EPIC, congratulated him, saying: "IMM Photonics is an excellent example of what can be done in the field of sustainability. This is one of the most important issues that companies will have to deal with in the coming years, as both politicians and society are increasingly demanding more responsibility from companies in terms of climate and environmental protection."

In 2024, IMM Photonics received a silver sustainability rating from EcoVadis, a globally recognized provider of sustainability ratings for companies. The company is aiming for a gold rating in 2025.
