Busch Vacuum Solutions Supports the Local Food Bank
At a time when Tafel Schopfheim is confronted with scarce resources, this financial support will help to maintain basic care and meet the needs of the growing number of people who depend on the food bank. At the beginning of the year 2023, the organization supplied up to 300 people a week with foodstuffs. However, as a result of increasing prices and immigration due to war and crises, the number of recipients has since risen to over 1,000 people.
The support of Busch Vacuum Solutions is not only a financial contribution, but also a sign of solidarity and compassion at a time when so many fellow citizens depend on the help of their community. The funds will be used to cover running costs, such as expenses for vehicles, fuel and energy.
Since 2004, Tafel Schopfheim, sponsored by the charitable organization “Diakonisches Werk,” has been providing foodstuffs for people with low incomes. This includes bread, yogurt, fruit and vegetables, as well as food from overproduction, with incorrect labels, or with damaged packaging. Although safe to eat, these goods often end up in the trash. The Tafel Schopfheim saves them from this fate.
The collected foodstuffs are passed on to those in need with a shopping ID for a small fee, about ten to twenty percent of the original value of the goods. This approach not only prevents food waste, but also supports those who depend on low-cost food.
