On October 29, 2026, the “Battery Systems – Technology & Cooperation” symposium will take place at the SKZ Plastics Center in Würzburg. The TechHUB Batterie of Bayern Innovativ is hosting the symposium at the SKZ. The event will focus on the integration of battery cells into high-performance battery systems, as well as innovative approaches currently being researched in this area.
The symposium offers a platform for interdisciplinary exchange among experts from industry and research. In addition to technological challenges throughout the production process, new joining technologies, material developments, and quality assurance procedures will be presented. Furthermore, participants will discuss the training and skill requirements necessary for the battery production of the future.
As the host venue, the SKZ also brings its expertise in plastics technology and materials development to the technical context through its modern model factory. Plastics play an important role in battery systems, for example in housing structures, insulation, and thermal management. Thus, the SKZ offers a suitable environment for discussing technological approaches, incorporating insights from practical experience, and initiating potential collaborations.
As a partner in the B³ – Bavarian Battery Education Network* project, the SKZ has been developing practical training programs for the battery and e-mobility industries since 2023. The goal is to specifically prepare skilled workers for the demands of the transformation and to close existing skill gaps.
“Battery systems place high demands on materials and the quality of production processes and require well-trained specialists. Exchange between industry, research, and education is therefore crucial for developing viable solutions for real-world applications and actively supporting the transformation in mobility and energy storage,” explains Matthias Gerhard, Project Manager for Batteries & E-Mobility at the SKZ.
Interested professionals are invited to actively participate, discuss current developments, and network. The expert meeting offers the opportunity to examine technological issues from different perspectives and to jointly develop approaches for the further advancement of modern battery systems.
* The B³ – Bavarian Battery Education Network is funded by the BMWE (Duration: May 1, 2023, to April 30, 2028; Grant ID: 16BZF407B)
