GROB with the G920F5 machining center at EUROGUSS 2026

From January 13 to 15, 2026, GROB will be exhibiting at EUROGUSS 2026 in Nuremberg—the leading trade fair for die casting, light metal and hybrid technologies. In Hall 7A, Booth 420, the Mindelheim-based family business will showcase its comprehensive expertise in machining technology for the international automotive industry. The focus will be on the G920F5 machining center which was specially developed for the high-precision machining of large-format vehicle components – so-called mega and giga castings, which are increasingly being used in modern vehicle bodies.

With the G920F5, GROB presents a machine that uniquely combines robustness, precision, and flexibility. "The G920F5 sets new standards in machining technology and is a future-proof solution for the automotive industry," explains Carsten König, Head of Machining Technology and Digital Products at GROB.

The 5-axis machining center was specially designed for the high demands of large-part machining. The combination of dynamic machine kinematics, high rigidity, and thermal stability enables the precise machining of complex structures while maintaining high productivity. The modular architecture allows flexible adaptation to individual manufacturing requirements, which is particularly advantageous when dealing with different component designs.

More than 50 machines of this type of construction are already in use worldwide – proof of the international acceptance and reliability of GROB technology.

Technological highlights of the G920F5

The G920F5 impresses with its powerful machine concept offering outstanding dynamics and stability. The rigid machine design and state-of-the-art drive technologies ensure consistent machining quality even at high cutting rates.

Technical highlights include:

  • Generous work area for tasking up to two components in giga-casting format
  • 5-axis simultaneous machining via 2 motor spindles for complex geometries
  • Highly dynamic linear axes for maximum productivity
  • Flexible automation concepts – from pallet changers to robot interfaces
  • Digital networking via GROB-NET4Industry and intelligent process monitoring

The G920F5 thus offers a scalable solution for a variety of production scenarios – from pilot production to highly automated series production.

Other machines in the G900 series

In addition to the G920F5, the G900 type of construction includes other machines tailored to specific applications:

  • G920X: Developed for machining extruded profiles. With two spindles, a wide variety of elongated components – often from profile technology – can be machined simultaneously at two machining stations. This is possible even with machining lengths of over5 meters.
  • G920F4: Designed for the complete machining of battery housings and other large-format, prismatic components. This machine accommodates workpiece lengths of up to 3,000 mm and combines high dynamics with efficient 4-axis task and modular adaptability.

All machines in the G900 series are designed for maximum precision, energy efficiency, and sustainability. GROB is thus responding to the growing demands of the e-mobility and lightweight construction industries and underlining its leading role in the development of modern machining technologies with a full focus on sustainable manufacturing.

Forward-looking solutions for the die casting industry

With its appearance at EUROGUSS 2026, GROB-WERKE is sending a strong signal for the future of the global automotive industry. The company will not only be presenting machines, but also complete manufacturing solutions from raw part machining and automation systems to digital services.

"We look forward to presenting the advantages of our G900 type of construction to our customers and shaping the future of machining technology together," concludes König. "EUROGUSS offers the ideal platform for further intensifying dialogue with customers from the automotive and die casting industries."
