Lauterbach Provides Full Debug and Profiling Support for AMD MicroBlaze V RISC-V Soft-Processor

Lauterbach’s TRACE32® development tools fully support AMD MicroBlaze™ V RISC-V soft cores for AMD adaptive SoCs and FPGAs. TRACE32® tools support includes simultaneous multicore debugging of the processor cores as well as non-intrusive processor trace capture.

The MicroBlaze V soft processor is based on the RISC-V Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) and is fully integrated into the design flow of the AMD Vivado™ and AMD Vitis™ tools.

Lauterbach’s TRACE32® development tools enable simultaneous debugging of MicroBlaze V RISC-V RV32 and RV64 cores and cover the entire product life cycle (PLC) from pre-silicon development on virtual targets to prototyping on silicon and in-field debugging. The universal debugging and tracing software, PowerView, can be supplemented with debug and trace accelerator modules for analyzing any kind of AMD adaptive SoC and FPGA: While Lauterbach’s intelligent PowerDebug modules offer highest download speeds and shortest response times for efficient debugging and test automation including CI/CD support, the PowerTrace real-time trace modules provide complete insights into what the processors are doing without affecting their real-time performance in any way. TRACE32® also enables the loading of an FPGA image.

Due to Lauterbach’s unique hypervisor-, AUTOSAR- and OS-awarenesses developers can analyze not only their applications, but the complete software stack. Trace analysis including code coverage measurements can support bringing embedded designs to market faster, safer, and more reliably than ever.

“AMD MicroBlaze™ V helps to shorten development time thanks to a wide range of optimized IP to provide an integrated processor subsystem in the programmable logic”, comments Alexandre Schaefer, Sales Director at Lauterbach GmbH. “With the latest support of TRACE32®, we enable MicroBlaze™ V customers to develop their applications with our market-leading debug and trace tools right from the start."

“Lauterbach’s recent implementation of support for the RISC-V compliant AMD MicroBlaze™ V processor exemplifies their commitment to advancing embedded systems technology,” says Martin Charron, Senior Director Product and Platform Technical Marketing at AMD. “This enhancement significantly boosts the development process by simplifying debugging and tracing for our customers. Together, we deliver state-of-the-art solutions that empower our mutual customers to bring their ideas to life.”

Lauterbach’s TRACE32® development tools enable developers of embedded applications to evolve their applications based on AMD Adaptive SoCs and FPGAs even faster and easier.
