Around 100 guests from politics, business, and partner companies celebrated the inauguration of a new production hall and an additional office building at SEMPA’s Dresden headquarters. With this investment, the company is responding to rising demand from the semiconductor and other high-tech industries, particularly in Dresden and the surrounding region. The goal is to deepen existing partnerships and build new collaborations. With its expanded capacities, SEMPA can now double its production output and implement cutting-edge technologies and processes.
Space for Growth and Innovation
“This building is much more than concrete, steel, and glass — with this project, we are setting the course for the coming decades. We are expanding our space, creating new capacities, and – most importantly – providing room for people, ideas, and collaboration,” said Managing Director Dr. Jörg Koch in his opening speech.
The new office and production areas are not only larger but also more intelligently structured, promoting cross-departmental collaboration. Customer- and system-specific workspaces enable even more precise and efficient project execution. The company is particularly proud of its new central commissioning areas, where supply systems can now be tested and optimized directly — a quantum leap for production processes.
With the opening of a second development laboratory, SEMPA further strengthens its innovative capabilities and consolidates its position as a technological leader in ultra-pure media technology.
Sustainability as a Guiding Principle
As announced at the groundbreaking ceremony in 2024, SEMPA placed great emphasis on sustainability and energy efficiency during construction: 93% recycled steel for the supporting structure, heat pumps combined with a photovoltaic system, green roofs, and comprehensive charging infrastructure for electric vehicles form the core of the energy concept.
To promote e-mobility, 30 of the 90 parking spaces on the company premises are equipped with charging stations for electric cars. In addition, a spacious, covered bicycle shelter encourages employees to switch to environmentally friendly transportation.
Structures for a Strong Team
The number of employees has more than doubled in recent years, now reaching around 200, with an upward trend. “We attach great importance to maintaining our excellent working atmosphere despite our growth and to creating an environment that fosters collaboration, trust, and innovation,” emphasized Koch.
The new building reflects this commitment: modern, light-flooded workplaces, spacious social areas, flexible training rooms, and a large canteen with a terrace provide ideal conditions for exchange, learning, and recreation.
A Clear Signal for the Future
“Today, we are not only opening the doors to a new building but also a new chapter in our nearly 25-year company history. Let us move forward together – with courage, enthusiasm, and the determination to continue setting benchmarks,” concluded the Managing Director.
SEMPA invested a double-digit million amount in this project – a strong commitment to the Saxony location and a clear signal toward the future for customers and partners worldwide.
SEMPA SYSTEMS GmbH was founded in 2001 and has established itself as a reputable supplier of highest-purity gas and chemical supply systems, also for very special applications. Customers include major companies in the semiconductor and LED industries as well as representatives of the photovoltaic and pharma sectors. The company employs 200 people at its headquarters in Dresden and the subsidiaries.
As of November 1, 2021, SEMPA is owned by the global Meptagon Group, a multidisciplinary engineering and construction company with a presence in Ireland, Central Europe, Israel and India. The merger of Meptagon and SEMPA creates synergies. The combination of high-end process equipment, state-of-the-art design and integration capabilities, and multidisciplinary construction services in various industries offers new development potential and thus the opportunity for greater product diversification.
