TÜV SÜD to consolidate the services of two divisions into its new Industry & Infrastructure Division

In order to better support its customers world-wide, the international testing, inspection and certification provider TÜV SÜD has decided to consolidate the services of the Industry Service and Real Estate & Infrastructure Divisions into the new Industry & Infrastructure Division. CEO Walter Reithmaier, CFO Markus Starflinger and COO Stephan Jacoby will assume responsibility for the division.

With around 30,000 employees and a turnover of 3.4 billion euros in 2024, TÜV SÜD is one of the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification providers. In the INDUSTRY segment, 7,900 employees generated sales of more than 1.1 billion euros. The segment previously consisted of the two divisions Industry Service and Real Estate & Infrastructure, whose competences are now combined in the Industry & Infrastructure division. This is where the Group bundles its global services for the safety, efficiency and sustainability of plants, infrastructure and buildings.

Against the backdrop of current global developments, TÜV SÜD is stepping up its efforts to better support its international customers. “With our comprehensive portfolio of services and customised solutions, we rely on innovation and expertise to navigate companies world-wide through these challenging times,” says Walter Reithmaier, CEO of TÜV SÜD’s Industry & Infrastructure Division. With a strong focus on digital solutions and innovative technologies, TÜV SÜD helps its customers to optimise their business processes and strengthen their resilience. “In uncertain times, it is crucial that companies can count on reliable partners,’ adds Reithmaier. ‘We are proud to fulfil this role for our customers worldwide and help them achieving their goals.”

Markus Starflinger, CFO of TÜV SÜD’s Industry & Infrastructure Division, confirms this: “We must offer solutions for the complex framework conditions that our customers are currently facing.” Starflinger recognizes considerable market potential for the new division and the entire Group in the midst of current challenges such as the sustainability of buildings, the requirements of critical infrastructure, and the energy transition.

According to Stephan Jacoby, COO of TÜV SÜD’s Industry & Infrastructure Division, TÜV SÜD is currently present in 38 countries with the services of the I&I division. “We have a very broad and exciting product portfolio with different focal points, ranging from large-scale international projects to recurring local business in individual countries and regions,” Jacoby said. One of the management team’s most important tasks now is to utilize existing synergies to further expand the Group’s international network.

Walter Reithmaier studied automotive engineering and has held various management positions at TÜV SÜD, including at TÜV SÜD Automotive GmbH, TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH, and the Product Service Division. Markus Starflinger began his TÜV SÜD career in Investment Controlling in 2013, later became Head of Financial Controlling, and was responsible for Corporate Controlling for eight years. Stephan Jacoby was CFO of the Industry Division from 2018 to 2022 and CFO of the Mobility Division and Managing Director of TÜV SÜD Auto Service GmbH from 2022 to 2025.
