Expand SUNTEST applications with Performance Extensions

Atlas Material Testing Technology, the global leader in weathering and lightfastness testing instruments and services, delivers tailored performance extensions for their SUNTEST® CPS+ and XLS+ xenon instruments to support unique testing needs.

The world’s most widely used benchtop xenon instruments, the SUNTEST line excels in simulating the effects of natural sunlight, moisture, and heat to evaluate UV durability and light stability of products and materials. While SUNTEST CPS+ and XLS+ models are highly effective on their own, the addition of SunFlood and SunCool opens up new testing possibilities.

SunFlood, the temperature-controlled water immersion unit, offers practical applications across a wide range of industries. For example, to assess color fastness of dental materials, a SUNTEST CPS+ or XLS+ paired SunFlood can realistically simulate human oral conditions. A 24- to-48-hour test is equivalent to several years of real-world usage.

A SUNTEST equipped with a Daylight filter and SunFlood enables manufacturers of waterproof wearables – such as smart watches, fitness trackers and action cameras – to evaluate light exposure- and UV-durability under highly realistic conditions. In the building industry, SunFlood is indispensable for testing water-proof sealants, especially those designed for horizontal rooftops, in scenarios such as heavy rainfalls followed by direct sunlight.

The SunCool air chiller extension is ideal for accelerated shelf-life testing (ASLT) of consumer products with transparent packaging, such as food and beverages. A SUNTEST  equipped with the Atlas StoreLight™ filter and SunCool can accurately replicate the effect of light exposure on packaging and product stability within air-conditioned stores and supermarket shelf conditions. Product developers can simulate one day of product shelf-life in just 30 minutes, while a 6-month simulation can be completed in under 4 days.

The pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries also benefit from SunCool, particularly in light stability testing of active ingredients and final products. The SunCool chiller will maintain stable testing temperatures – avoiding thermal effects during intensive visible or UV-light exposures. For more information, please visit www.atlas-mts.com.
