More and more wind and solar energy is being generated, so more and more storage media are needed. These batteries only work with lithium, and that will remain the case for some time to come. Even though there are always new inventions and approaches. For example, young Finnish engineers tinkered with the first sand battery. They placed around 100 tons of building sand in a silo and heated it to 500 degrees Celsius in the summer using renewable energy. This could be used to heat offices or apartments.
