High-speed, high-capacity storage is needed for 5G and AIoT applications. Consumer-grade products are not rugged enough for outdoor and industrial applications. Innodisk’s new PCIe 4.0 SSDs have higher storage capacity compared to their PCIe 3.0 predecessor, are twice as fast, and are suitable for an extended temperature range. The new generation of industrial-grade PCIe 4.0 SSDs has a maximum capacity of 4 TB, and a transfer speed of 16 GT/s, which is double that of PCIe Gen3. The third generation of PCIe SSDs have full forward and backward compatibility compared to the very popular SATA III storage. PCIe 4.0 also offers this compatibility with a noticeable speed increase. The industrial-grade PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe M.2 series features 112-layer 3D TLC technology, offers an extended temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C, supports AES-256 encryption and is compliant with TCG OPAL 2.0. The new series also leverages NVMe technology. By using the so-called Namespace technology, the read and write efficiency is increased and the service life of the SSD is extended.
Applications for the PCIe 4.0 SSDs include smart street lighting, 5G mmWave, security cameras and 5G Internet hosting. The PCIe Gen4x4 SSDs are available in M.2 2280 4TE and M.2 2280 4TG-P variants with storage capacities ranging from 256GB to 2TB and M.2 2280 4TG2-P with 128GB to 4TB.
