New Chamber and Association Partnership Project (KVP) of German Biogas Association in Serbia

The partnership between the German Biogas Association (GBA) and Serbian Biogas association (SBA) will start at the beginning of October. Both sides speak of great energy potential and expect new perspectives for German biogas companies.

From May 2019 to September 2020, there was a so-called small-scale KVP between the GBA and the SBA, which has led to a significant increase in public awareness in the sector, and already achieved very good results in the development of services and products and, above all, in lobbying. With this new project the partners want to build on that.

This 3-year-project aims to develop the Serbian Biogas Association into an established selfsupporting organisation and thus promote the production and use of biogas in the country.

The partnership is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Serbia is highly dependent on energy imports. There is a large potential for biomass and already relatively profitable feed-in tariffs, also for biogas plants. The production of biogas in Serbia has a sustainable perspective, especially as it brings Serbia closer to the environmental standards of the European Union, increases the generation of income and ensures its energy independence.

Within this project the development and strengthening of the Serbian association will be promoted, an active dialogue including the transfer of know-how created, and support in lobbying in Serbia will be offered. Especially with regard to the EU entry and the associated climate protection issues, it is an important aspect to shape the corresponding political and legal framework conditions in Serbia.

Dr. Claudius da Costa Gomez, Managing Director of the German Biogas Association (GBA), is happy about what is now the third project for the GBA: "During our earlier cooperation with the Serbian Biogas Association, we recognised the great potential for biogas in the country.

Since the associations have known each other for years, we will work together in this partnership project in a targeted manner and jointly promote the expansion of renewable energies in Serbia.".

For German biogas companies, the partnership project may create new business opportunities in the country.

About Serbian Biogas Asscociation (SBA)
