"The current times are both exciting and challenging at the same time. What was considered normal in 2019 is no longer the case now. We don’t know at gamesweekberlin what the future will hold. But we do know that ‚business as usual‘ doesn’t work anymore, so we have adapted gamesweekberlin and created new added values for our participants," says Michael Liebe, director of gamesweekberlin and CEO of the organiser Booster Space.
"By establishing the Dev Booster at gamesweekberlin, we are giving developers and publishers a much-needed platform to showcase and discover games. And in bolstering our cooperation with MeetToMatch, we can offer the best possible framework for networking in these digitally dominated times. Diversity finds an ideal platform in ‚Womenize! Games and Tech‘ and the new ‚Womenize! Inspiring stories‘ blog. The ‚Career Day‘ shows us responding to the industry’s urgent need for new talent.
In addition, we are committed to sustainability and environmental sustainability with the motto of gamesweekberlin GREEN X."
gamesweekberlin 2021 will kick off on Tuesday, November 23 with the Opening Breakfast which will feature exciting guests in the studio and via live streams.
The Dev Booster pitching competition on the afternoon of November 23 will give game developers from all over the world an opportunity to present their project – at whatever stage – to publishers, industry experts as well as investors and representatives of the media. Entries for the DevBooster will be accepted here until October 17 at www.gamesweekberlin.com/….
The Kickstarter Gathering for games developers and publishers of board and computer games on the evening of November 23 will be bringing the creators of the year’s latest and most promising releases together for a fun online event.
The workshops of the action platform for diversity Womenize! Games & Tech on Wednesday, November 24 will explore mental health, diversity in games characters, games engines and how to start your own game studio.
The Career Day aims to attract new talent to the games industry. Educational and training institutions, companies and recruiting experts will present the opportunities and possibilities for professional development in the industry through presentations and discussions with such headings as "How to become a Programmer?", "The diversity of the games industry" or "How to enter the Berlin market?".
There will also be pitching on November 25 at the new publisher matchmaking event ALL EYES ON INDIE which is being organised by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. This will be a place where indie games developers from Berlin, Brandenburg and other parts of Germany can have one-to-one meetings with international publishers, platforms and investors interested in indie games. Applications of projects with playable prototypes will be accepted here until October 22.
