The Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR laps the 20.832-kilometre-long Nürburgring-Nordschleife in 6:54.340 minutes

On Friday 23 April 2021, the 383 kW (520 hp) Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR from the 991.2 generation lapped the 20.832-kilometre-long Nordschleife in the presence of a notary in 6:54.340 minutes. The measured time for the 20.6-kilometre-long lap without the T13 track section, which is the lap length primarily used in the past, was 6:49.656 minutes. The Porsche works driver Kévin Estre was behind the wheel of the road-legal sports car.

The Porsche was fitted with an MR Performance Kit, which has been developed with a focus on track days and club racing. The kit has undergone extensive testing and numerous laps on a range of race circuits to ensure that the Manthey-Racing products for road cars provide the best possible performance.

“We were impressed by how fast Kévin was in our car. I was pleased to see in the video analysis how relaxed he can drive the Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR fast on the Nordschleife. One of the goals behind the development of our performance kits is drivability. We aim to give our customers the confidence to get fast lap times safely,” said Christoph Breuer, project leader for road cars at Manthey/PSZ.

In preparation for the timed lap, only minimal changes were made to the set-up of the 911 as it is supplied to customers. The only non-road-legal component was the racing seat, which was fitted to ensure the safety of the driver.

“It was a wonderful feeling to complete the short lap in under 6:50 minutes. The car felt great. It’s unbelievable, especially in the fast corners. The crazy thing is that the times aren’t far off those of our GT3 R, the Grello. I’m very proud to have been able to drive this lap for Manthey-Racing,” said Kévin Estre.

The performance kit is based on the modifications made to the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR, which, among other things, holds the record for the fastest modified sports car on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.
