Strong light – innovative high-performance LED Module

The market for professional LED-lighting solutions is growing continuously. The constant technological progress on the basis of innovative new and further developments forms the basis for expanding the use of the LED as an alternative to conventional light bulbs. The maxim is clear: smaller, more efficient, more specialized.

Further developments in technology, such as the Sevengine LED module by the Bavarian manufacturer, expand the applications and benefits of the LED. Sevengine combines seven high-power LEDs in a compact, robust housing (L26 x W32 x H10 mm) and its distinguishing feature, above all, is a particularly high optical efficacy and light density, which is achieved through integrated TIR silicone lenses that are bonded directly with the chip. In spite of the module’s low height, Sevengine operates with a beam angle of only 20° and offers thermal monitoring with the aid of an integrated NTC with a plug-in connector.

"The applications for our unique light engine are diverse", says Christian Jahn, Product Specialist at Light Avenue GmbH from Etterzhausen. "Whether it is installed individually, for example, as compact lighting for drones, or in a larger number in a series circuit, as ceiling lighting on oil rigs – Sevengine can be used wherever a large amount of light is required selectively, even under adverse conditions, and the size of the light source is an important feature."

For the specific applications of the high-performance module, Sevengine has been explicitly designed for longevity and performance and offers the possibility of being integrated into a waterproof housing, for example. Furthermore, multiple modules can be switched in series and operated with up to approx. 300 V, which can result in a significant reduction of system costs.

"Overall, as a niche supplier, our aim is to offer our industrial customers a high degree of customization of our product, instead of mass production", explains Mr Jahn. "Sevengine not only offers a selection of light sources between 360 and 940 nm, but also shape, colour, the number and addressability of the individual emitters can be changed according to customers wishes. Furthermore, the radiance can be adapted through the use of secondary lenses, in addition to the individual requirements."

Sevengine was already presented as a prototype by Light Avenue in late 2019 and has been available as a series product since the end of 2020. The development and prototype production takes place entirely in Europe..

"With Sevengine, we are staying to our company philosophy and expanding our range of efficient and highly adaptable LED solutions. In doing so, the close, agile collaboration with our customers remains of utmost importance," emphasizes Mr Jahn.

As a developer, manufacturer, and supplier, Light Avenue’s range of services comprises all steps in the product value chain. New LED and laser products are created in close collaboration with customers and consequently on the basis of concrete requirements for practical implementation. Light Avenue has the professional expertise and technical infrastructure at its disposal to bundle all of the necessary sub-steps, from the idea, to comprehensive 3D light simulations, heat simulation, and prototype development, right up to readiness for series production, all from a single location. This principle forms the basis for customized, needs-based innovations with a high degree of adaptation possibilities and short development periods.
