New channel alliance for LoRa-WAN high-tech components

The Swiss specialists for engineering and IT, Miromico, and the well-known distribution house, Computer Controls, have agreed on a partnership for the sale and consulting of integrated circuits, electronic systems and Internet of Things products.

The distribution specialist for consulting-intensive, high-quality electronic components, Computer Controls AG (CCAG), headquartered in Zurich, is now serving the European market with FMLR modules and gateways for LoRaWAN applications (Long Range WAN), analog, mixed-signal and digital microchips as well as customer-specific IoT solutions from Miromico AG.

The core product of the new product family by CCAG is currently the world’s smallest LoRaWAN-module with Maxim MCU from Miromico. The module enables a wireless connection to almost all devices, systems and sensors communicating with low data rates over a distance of more than 50 km, e.g. for smart city solutions. For the immediate construction of IoT-Sensor networks, the system can be expanded with additional sensors with low power on an external carrier board.

The miniature module is flanked by additional FMLR modules, also with a small footprint of 14 x 19.5 mm, for seamless integration in LoRaWAN installations. Possible applications for these modules are telemetry, smart metering, battery-operated sensors, wireless sensing, remote data acquisition or industrial and home automation.

LoRaWAN, an internationally recognized radio technology for IoT data transmission, reaches locations that remain inaccessible for today’s mobile communications.

The LoRaWAN software stack for the module is available as an open source solution and can be operated on the integrated microcontroller. The modules are available with additional on-board flash memory to enable over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Another product highlight from Miromico is the FMLR-PGWC mPCIe LoRaWAN gateway card as a plug-and-play solution for wireless communication networks with long range and low power according to the LoRaWAN standard. The card in mini PCIe formfactor communicates with a host processor via a serial USB 2.0 interface (CDC).

With the components of Miromico AG, which was founded in 2002 as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, CCAG now has highly sophisticated products for the LoRaWAN area in its sales program and is once again demonstrating its position with the current product portfolio as a full-service provider for high-tech companies. >> More
