Kelvion signs first K°Bond Contract

Furthering their mission to facilitate and accelerate the transition to clean and efficient energy and mobility systems using hydrogen and fuel cell technologies across applications and sectors, Kelvion Thermal Solutions S.A.S. is pleased to announce its first contract with a French manufacturer of hydrogen refueling stations (HRS) using Kelvion’s diffusion bonded heat exchanger K°Bond.

In hydrogen fuel stations, cars are fueled at a pressure of up to 700 bar (g). K°Bond precools hydrogen to a temperature of approximately – 37°C to prevent it from getting too hot, when it is dispensed into the fuel tank. The required design pressure is 1.000 bar. By withstanding pressures up to 1.000 bar and temperatures from cryogenic -200 to 600 °C, Kelvion’s K°Bond heat exchanger meets all the customer’s requirements and complies with the international fueling standard SAE J2601.*

As the French market is expected to grow rapidly, Kelvion is proposing a standardized solution and short delivery times. This will assure a fast and reactive delivery for all forthcoming projects," Olivier Robert (Proposal Manager for PCHE = Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers) explained.

"Hydrogen fuel stations are a booming market and we are very happy that Kelvion has now entered it," Jörg Brüggemann (Director Business Development EMEA) says. "With all the RfQs we are currently working on, we are confident that more success stories will follow shortly."

* SAE J2601 meets the U.S. DOE FCEV Targets […] by enabling a hydrogen fueling in 3 minutes* which enables a 300+ miles (500 km) range. SAE J2601/J2799 is being used as a basis for FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) fueling worldwide. [Source: https://www.energy.gov/]
